Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Answers to the questions facility directors, procurement officers, and property managers most commonly ask about commercial roofing, government contracts, and our services.

Choice Partners is a cooperative purchasing organization that pre-qualifies contractors and negotiates contract pricing on behalf of member entities. American Contracting USA holds a JOC-IDIQ Roofing contract through Choice Partners, which means Texas school districts, municipalities, counties, and other public entities can award roofing projects directly to us without going through a competitive bid process. This saves weeks on procurement timelines and uses pre-negotiated, compliant pricing.
HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) certification is issued by the State of Texas. It qualifies American Contracting USA for government contracting preferences, HUB set-aside contracts, and helps public agencies meet their HUB participation goals on larger projects. For facility directors and procurement officers, working with a HUB-certified contractor simplifies compliance with state supplier diversity requirements.
We install all major commercial roofing systems: TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin), EPDM rubber, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up roofing (BUR), and standing seam metal. We are certified applicators for Carlisle SynTec, Firestone Building Products, Johns Manville, GAF, and Siplast — which means we can offer NDL (no-dollar-limit) manufacturer warranties on every system we install.
NDL stands for No-Dollar-Limit — it means the manufacturer will cover the cost of repairs up to and including full replacement if the system fails within the warranty period. School districts and government agencies specify NDL warranties because they protect the facility's budget from unexpected roof failure costs. NDL warranties are only available from contractors who have been certified by the manufacturer, which American Contracting USA is for all five of our manufacturer partners.
A properly installed 60-mil TPO system in the South Texas climate typically lasts 20-30 years with proper maintenance. The hot, humid climate and UV intensity of the Rio Grande Valley can accelerate wear on lower-quality systems, which is why we specify 60-mil TPO (not the thinner 45-mil systems) and always install with manufacturer-approved insulation and cover board systems. Heat-welded seams on TPO are critical in the South Texas climate — they outperform adhesive systems in high-heat conditions.
After storm damage occurs, we recommend calling American Contracting USA before filing a claim. We conduct a thorough damage assessment and provide documentation of all storm-related damage. We coordinate directly with your insurance adjuster during their inspection to ensure all damage is properly noted in the claim. Once the claim is approved, we execute the repair or replacement and handle all manufacturer warranty documentation. Our experience with insurance-coordinated projects means we know how to document damage properly and get your facility back in service quickly.
Our primary service area is the Rio Grande Valley — Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy, and Starr counties. However, through our Choice Partners cooperative contract, we can execute roofing projects at facilities statewide in Texas. School districts and public entities outside the RGV can use the Choice Partners contract to engage American Contracting USA for their projects regardless of location.
Every commercial project begins with a thorough roof inspection and condition assessment. We then prepare a detailed specification matching the owner's requirements and budget, including manufacturer system selection, insulation R-value, and warranty level. Once awarded, our project manager develops a schedule that minimizes disruption to facility operations. All installations follow manufacturer requirements exactly to qualify for warranty. We conduct a final manufacturer inspection for warranty activation and provide complete closeout documentation.
